Once Upon a Time
Our story sprouted from the sun-soaked sands of California, enriched by Turkish heritage, and refined through the Swiss way of life.
At its heart, FAIR TO GOOD is the story of Candan and Kenan—a story of their love, their global friendships, and their deep connection to family. It is also a tribute to Kenan’s aunts, the talented artisans whose skills and passion bring FAIR TO GOOD’s creations to life..
Faced with the reality of our environment in crisis, especially the ocean where we spent so much time along the Southern California coast, we felt inspired to create a brand that truly embodies sustainable and fair practices for surf, beach, and city culture—a brand that’s not just fair, but cool too.
The Name That Rides the Waves
In the lexicon of surfers, ‘FAIR TO GOOD’ resonates deeply, marking a specific wave condition. For us, it’s also a banner for integrity in labor and the craft of exceptional goods. It’s our wordplay manifesto, our beacon of progress, reminding us that the journey from satisfactory to stellar is a shared quest – one wave, one stitch at a time.
FAIR TO GOOD is a principle, a process, and a promise. It is a story driven by the ocean’s boundless grace. We weave dignity and stewardship into the fabric of our being.
Ethical & Fair Fashion
At FAIR TO GOOD, we champion human-centric values, honoring the environment and nurturing our community (-> The FAIR TO GOOD principle). Every item we create has a unique design and history, crafted from rescued Peshtemal and waffle fabrics. Each piece embodies this ethos, combining impeccable quality with thoughtful design. We stand for sustainable fashion that makes a statement, advocating for a planet treated with reverence.
We work together with Açara Moda Evi, a women-owned tailor business in Turkey, where we champion equitable work practices and cultural synergy. Two of the talented women behind this venture are also Kenan’s aunts—his favorite aunts.
Sustainability
We work exclusively with waffle and Peshtemal fabrics that were damaged during production. These are high-quality textiles, often handwoven, and among the finest cotton products in the world. Fabrics with weaving defects, fabric strips, or those stained with machine oil are treated differently by manufacturers. Learn more about it where we collect fabrics & how we work with them.
We see flawed fabrics as an opportunity. MAKE MISTAKES GREAT AGAIN.
